Wedding Florist at Capella Singapore
Venue-specific floral considerations for Sentosa’s most photographed wedding venue.

Capella Singapore is, for many Singaporean couples, the venue. The indoor-outdoor architecture, the colonial heritage buildings, the Sentosa setting — it shapes the entire wedding aesthetic before any decor decision. Florally, that means every choice needs to respect what’s already there rather than compete with it.
This is our perspective as a florist on what works at Capella, what doesn’t, and what to plan for.
The Venue Character
Capella’s wedding spaces span three very different registers:
The Garden Ceremony Lawn
Outdoor ceremony area with tropical foliage as backdrop, the lawn leading down to the colonial buildings. Natural light is dominant. Florally, the question is always: how do you add without overwhelming a space that’s already visually rich?
The Ballrooms (The Grand Ballroom, The Stateroom)
Indoor reception spaces with colonial-contemporary design — high ceilings, neutral palette, architectural detail. Florals here have room to scale.
The Outdoor Terraces
Cocktail and dinner spaces with garden views. Works best for smaller weddings (<80 guests) or as a pre-reception cocktail area for larger events.
Floral Considerations
Outdoor Humidity
Sentosa in afternoon is the hottest and most humid microclimate you’ll deal with for a Singapore wedding. Flowers that wilt visibly in 30 minutes of direct sun:
- Garden roses (unless kept in the shade until ceremony start)
- Ranunculus
- Sweet peas
- Anemones
Flowers that hold up through outdoor afternoon ceremonies at Capella:
- Phalaenopsis orchids
- Hydrangea (thirsty but resilient)
- Anthurium (our secret weapon for outdoor Sentosa)
- Protea
- Eucalyptus (dries gracefully rather than wilting)
We usually stage outdoor florals with ice packs and shaded holding until 30 minutes before guest arrival. Worth asking your florist how they handle outdoor staging.
Scale — Match the Architecture
Capella’s indoor spaces reward architectural florals. Dainty centrepieces (30cm high) disappear against the volume. We typically recommend:
- Ceremony arch or altar arrangement — 2.5m+ to match ceiling heights
- Reception centrepieces — tall (80–120cm) OR very low + dense (25–35cm) with abundant foliage; middle heights (45–70cm) don’t photograph well against the architecture
- Bridal bouquet — statement scale suits the venue
Palette
Works exceptionally well at Capella:
- Restrained white with soft botanical greens (against the colonial backdrop)
- Tropical luxe — white anthurium, protea, monstera, with accents of coral or deep burgundy
- Peach + cream garden palette (Nov–Feb with peonies)
Less successful:
- Strong primary colours — fight the venue’s natural palette
- Pure stark white at full scale — reads sterile against the warm colonial tones
Access & Logistics
Capella’s loading protocols matter. Most vendor access is via the service entrance on the far side of the estate, with designated delivery windows. Flexible install timing isn’t always possible — the venue coordinates multiple vendors simultaneously.
We typically:
- Confirm install window with Capella’s events team 2 weeks pre-wedding
- Arrive 3–4 hours before ceremony (extra buffer for Sentosa traffic + security)
- Bring everything self-contained (tools, water, vessels) — can’t borrow from the venue
- Work to tight teardown windows after the reception
Ceremony Audio & Florals
Capella’s garden ceremonies use wireless audio — no aisle cables. Worth noting because aisle floral placement doesn’t need to avoid anything except guest foot traffic.
Investment Ranges at Capella
Based on typical Capella wedding scopes:
| Scope | Range (SGD) |
|---|---|
| Intimate ceremony only (30–50 guests) | S$6,000 – S$12,000 |
| Garden ceremony + ballroom reception (100–150 guests) | S$15,000 – S$30,000 |
| Full-venue styled wedding (200+ guests, multiple installations) | S$30,000 – S$60,000+ |
| Flagship destination-style wedding | S$60,000+ |
Capella’s premium positioning tends to pull floral budgets upward — couples who’ve invested in the venue rarely want to under-style the florals. That said, the architecture carries a lot of weight — a restrained S$18,000 wedding can read as considered rather than budget.
Working With Capella’s In-House Team
Capella has an established wedding coordination team and preferred-vendor relationships. Our approach:
- Work cleanly within venue protocols
- Coordinate install and breakdown directly with the assigned Capella coordinator
- Return the venue to its default state (removing our wire armatures, vessels, etc.)
Some Capella packages include floral allowances from preferred florists. We can work alongside these packages — handling the bridal party + installation pieces while the venue handles tables, for example — or take the full floral scope bespoke.
Our Past Work at Capella
We’ve styled florals across Capella’s ceremony, ballroom, and outdoor terrace spaces. Visual references available on enquiry — we don’t publish full wedding galleries without couple consent.
Capella-Specific FAQs
Is Capella a good venue for sustainable florals?
Yes. The venue’s own sustainability positioning aligns with foam-free, locally sourced floral work. Post-event composting and donation are straightforward on-site.
Do I need two florists (ceremony + reception) at Capella?
Not necessarily. Most weddings can be handled end-to-end by one florist. If your ceremony is early and reception late, with a long gap, a single florist manages the transition and can repurpose florals between spaces (saving budget).
Can florals be installed the night before for a morning ceremony?
Fresh florals don’t install the night before in Singapore’s humidity — they wilt overnight. Install is always same-day. We arrive 3–4 hours before ceremony start.
Next Steps
For Capella weddings, engage your florist 6–9 months ahead for peak season dates (Jan–Mar, Sep–Dec). Off-peak windows have better date availability and sometimes better pricing.
